The big clearance is a great help when you ride muddy trails or in the snow. The big clearance helps the tire to roll even though there is a clogged muddy tire rolling. The Stamina accommodates a massive 3″ tire in the rear swingarm. The most popular tire size used today is approximately 2.35”, meaning that mud clogging becomes a thing of the past.

Advantages of larger tires

A large tire has more air volume which gives us more low-speed damping and comfort. Tire width influences the feel, performance, and support of your bike at lower speeds. Running a wider tire typically offers far better stability and grip when riding technical sections, loose ground and when cornering. Having a wider tire will create a larger surface area on the ground, improving balance.

Disadvantages of larger tires

As good as wide tires are they do have some drawbacks. They are heavier, which can slow down acceleration and the undamped rebound is a bit of a problem if you are a speedster. Also, the larger tire will reduce the amount of tire clearance in your rear swingarm or fork. We have done our best to minimize this problem for the average rider. If your trails often consist of sticky mud you might suffer from some clogging with a 3” tire.

A wider tire in front changes the trail so that the negative trail hits faster when you ride a very steep corner. In conclusion, you need to think about the type of rider you are and balance comfort, grip, and speed. If you like to race then something along the lines of an average size tire of 2.3-2.5” might be more suitable. If you are a beginner or an intermediate rider looking for more grip and comfort then larger can be better.
