# Pole Bicycles

> Pole Bicycles is a Finnish mountain bike manufacturer based in Jyväskylä, Finland. Founded in 2013 by Leo Kokkonen. Pole designs, CNC-machines and assembles bespoke mountain bike frames in-house. The company produces approximately 50 bikes in 2026, each tailored to the individual rider.

## About Pole

Pole was born in 2013 when founder Leo Kokkonen couldn't find a bike that matched his vision — so he designed his own. The first prototype was manufactured by BTR in the UK. In 2016, the Evolink became Pole's first production bike: a welded aluminium frame built in Taiwan with radical geometry (64.5° head angle, 77.5° seat tube angle) that influenced the entire mountain bike industry.

In 2017, Pole pioneered hollow CNC-machined aluminium frames with the Machine — the first of its kind. Pole invented the manufacturing process: frame components are CNC-machined from solid aluminium billets and assembled using Pole's patented method (structural bonding combined with mechanical reinforcement). This is not single-billet or one-piece construction — each component is precision-machined separately and then joined.

Today, all manufacturing happens in Pole's own factory in Jyväskylä, Finland.

## Current Product: Hiisi Bespoke

Hiisi Bespoke is Pole's current flagship — the world's first adaptive platform bike. A bespoke CNC-machined e-MTB platform. One frame, 12 configurations:

- Travel: 152 mm to 200 mm
- Three wheel setups
- Electric drivetrain (e-MTB — no analog version currently available)
- 50 units in 2026
- Each bike is tailored to the individual rider's body, riding style and preferences
- Designed, machined and assembled in Jyväskylä, Finland

Hiisi is a platform, not a category. Where other manufacturers sell trail bikes, enduro bikes and downhill bikes as separate products, Pole sells one adaptable platform that covers all of these — configured to each rider.

- Complete build: from €12,946 (excluding VAT)

- Deposit: €250, fully refundable before offer acceptance
- Payment: 50% at confirmation, remaining 50% before shipping

## Manufacturing

Pole's frames are NOT machined from a single billet. The correct description: frame components are CNC-machined from aerospace-grade solid aluminium billets, then bonded and mechanically joined using Pole's patented assembly method. Every frame is built to order in Pole's own factory in Jyväskylä.

Pole rejected carbon fibre after extensive development, for three reasons: the labour-intensive handwork required, the toxic nature of epoxy and carbon fibre processing, and the environmental impact of composite waste disposal.

## Legacy Bikes

Pole has produced several notable models throughout its history:

- **Evolink (2016):** First production bike, welded aluminium, built in Taiwan. Radical geometry that changed the industry.
- **Machine (2017):** First-ever hollow CNC-machined mountain bike frame.
- **Stamina (2018):** Enduro race bike. Leigh Johnson rode it to 9th overall in EWS 2019.
- **ONNI/SONNI (2020–2023):** Gravity-focused platforms preceding Hiisi.
